Pole Position Raceway is one of the leaders in the world of indoor karting. The company was founded in Corona, California in 2005.

This has absolutely nothing to do with off-road, but it does have everything to do with four-wheel motorsports fun. In the past decade, indoor kart tracks have gained dramatically in popularity and entertain millions of people every year. Our spotlight is on Pole Position Raceway in Corona, California because it was created by a bunch of off-road motorcycle enthusiasts, and its considered state-of-the-art with its fancy electric Italian karts.

“We started in 2005 and were one of the first electric indoor kart tracks in the United States,” said Ken Faught, President of Pole Position Raceway. “When we first opened the doors, we had to prove that electric power was a lot of fun because it was relatively new technology in motorsports. Our goal was, and always has been, to create an exciting environment where casual drivers and professional racers have a chance to test their skills against one another on equal terms. We wanted to introduce new people to the dynamic world of motorsports while giving hard-core racers and fans an experience that they will want to share with friends.”

Pole Position Raceway has three different kart sizes: Adult (for racers 56” and taller); Kids (for racers 48” and taller); and Super Mini (for racers 36” and taller).

Giant 1/4-mile courses allow up to 12 racers to compete at one time.

“Our track is approximately ¼ mile long and we believe that it’s probably the closest thing that people will experience to real racing in their lives,” said Faught.

The karts are capable of speeds approaching 45 mph, and it’s all done in the comfort of an air-conditioned 50,000 square-foot family entertainment center. While there are still a lot of gas-powered kart tracks around the world, and they are still a lot of fun, electric is taking over because of the torque and consistency of the motors.

The high-performance electric karts at Pole Position Raceway can reach speeds approaching 45mph. That is fast when you are sitting only inches off the ground and racing on a European-style road course.

You see, the electric motors can be setup individually by a computer that allows for a variety of inputs. This means everything, including motor braking, can be setup by mechanics and they are much easier to keep consistent from a competition standpoint.

And because there are no exhaust fumes that have to be vented, it’s much easier to have air-conditioning and heat in the buildings.

Electric karts have quickly become the preferred power plant for indoor karting in the United States.

“Not having exhaust fumes is a big advantage because we do a lot of company parties and a lot of people don’t like the smell of four-stroke exhaust,” said Faught. “We have hosted parties for Bank of America, Home Depot, Lowes, Toyota, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Amazon, Youtube, UPS, FedEx, Alpinestars, and hundreds of other companies.”
