Everyone Can Benefit From Proper Training 

Learning proper technique from the beginning will keep you safe and your rides will be more enjoyable.  More advanced techniques come with time.

Learning to ride a motorcycle requires a very specific set of skills that  comes naturally to many people but can be a bit intimidating for others.  Sure, you can go out in the backyard with your dad or your uncle and learn how to ride and many people have learned just that way.  But that doesn't always work for everybody, many people need a little more focused instruction. 

The Motorcycle Industry Council recognized this fact years ago and started the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.  The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) is a national, not-for-profit organization promoting the safety of motorcyclists with programs to help create safer riders with basic and advanced rider courses for both street and dirt rider training as well as creating and distributing a wide variety of safety oriented information and materials. The MSF is an industry supported organization and is sponsored by the U.S. manufacturers and distributors of BMW, BRP, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Indian Motorcycle, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.

The MSF offers several nationwide motorcycle rider courses.  The street training is called the MSF Ridercourse and the off-road training arm is known as the Dirt Bike School.   The Dirt Bike School offers three courses; the Basic Rider course, the Advanced Rider course and the Adventure Bike Rider course. 

In addition to the corses offered by the Dirt Bike School  (or your uncle) there are literally dozens of operations across the country that offer motorcycle rider training.  This is where your options get a little more complex.  Are you a new rider looking to advance to the next level of skill and proficiency?  Are you a motocross racer looking to learn new skills and techniques to shave valuable seconds off of your lap times?  Are you a former rider returning to the sport after a hiatus of just a few years or for many?  Whatever your goals with training it is always a good idea to take it seriously and check out your options to be sure you get the course you need and don't waste time or money.
